My name is Marek Suchowski. I come from Poland but I have been living in Canada for the last 15 years. My adventure with music started in elementary school in Wroclaw, the city where I had lived before I came to Canada. When I was a kid, my mother sent me for the piano lessons that I attended one year. Few years later I received a small guitar from my parents and ever since a guitar has been my constant companion. My musical education includes all kinds of music – from classical, jazz to punk rock. But the most influenced music for me came from the artists of late 1960’s and 1970’s, such as: King Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Gentle Giant, Deep Purple, Mike Oldfield, etc. In the early 1980’s, during The Marshal Law in Poland, when I was studying in engineering college, my friend a sculptor, introduced me to the local “artistic circles”. There were many new music bands and that time in Poland and I started my stage adventures in one of them. We were playing underground simple songs based on ska and reggae, but it was not my top- interested kind of music. After several years I quit and after some ups and downs I immigrated to Canada in 1989. I returned to music after few years of living in Canada and, enriched by my new “immigrant experiences”, I started to write my own songs. In short time I collected over 10 songs and decided to record them on my first CD. I started from ground zero gradually buying recording equipment and learning how to use it. All the time I was writing new songs for my next CD’s. I also have to add that all compositions, lyrics, singings, musical parts, recordings, mixes, arrangements were made by me in my private studio. I would like to take this opportunity and thank all the people who believed in me and supported me at that time, particularly my wife. It might interest you that few years ago I made the Polish version of the famous Pink Floyd’s album “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. I have also received permission from all members of Pink Floyd to release my version in Poland. Unfortunately, despite of all my efforts I could not find any sponsors.
